I needed to replace the antenna on a 2023 Street Glide due to the addition of a Tour-Pak. At first I tried a stubby antenna from the Hogw folks. The reception was horrible down in the stock location so I moved it up to the Tour-Pak with a bracket that I made. If I could post pictures, I would. Reception was better but not acceptable, so I searched for another antenna and found this (I ordered the 12” unit).
This is too tall to be used in the stock location with a Tour-Pak on the bike, so I mounted it on the bracket I had made. To compare the reception against the stock whip, I rode westbound on Rt. 1 with the radio tuned to WMGK in Philadelphia. The stock whip started to get a little static at around 50 miles; this one fell just a few miles short. Good enough for me! I would have stayed with the stock whip on my “bracket” except that my new mounting location now put it at just the right position to poke in the eye! The 12” height on this antenna keeps it out of the way.
On an interesting note – the instructions call for Loctite on the threads. I have installed hundreds of radios over the years, stereos, CBs, police/fire 2-way, and base station transmitters. This is the first time I have seen Loctite called for. I opted not to use it, as this is an electrical connection and I wanted a good contact between the antenna and the base. It hasn’t come loose and I am pleased with the reception. I recommend this antenna.
